WP3 - Phonation in replicas

In this video, the acoustic source terms based on Lighthill’s acoustic analogy are shown. The glottis of the vocal fold replica is at the x=0, y=0 position. An intense source can be found at the glottal exit, corresponding to the first harmonic of the vocal fold oscillation. Additional source terms can be found along the glottal jet.

This video shows the time-resolved flow field downstream of our vocal fold replica. It has been measured using state-of-the-art High-speed PIV at an acquisition rate of 2x2000 Hz. Especially when compared to phase-locked measurements, a highly dynamic flow field can be identified. The glottal jet interacts with the turbulent supraglottal flow field and is deflected as a result.
